I’m Excited

Re: New CEO

Dear Operative [Teigan],

Due to your status as a relatively high-profile Inducted Operative, and the well-informed nature of your enquiry, Olga Chekhova has forwarded your most recent email to me for response.

Your supposition that Neurocam is beginning to move out of the state of remission in which it has resided since the suspension of senior staff on July 13 is correct.

Charles Hastings has successfully reapplied for the position of Director of Operations, reaffirming his commitment to this crucial role within the organization, and is currently collaborating with the Nautonier Liaison in assessing candidates for CEO.

An announcement regarding the appointment may be expected by Thursday 1st September at the very latest.

I have been appointed by the Nautonier to conduct a thorough assessment of Neurocam’s current state, and form recommendations regarding the best way forward for the organization – a task I have now completed – and oversee the implementation of these until such time as it is determined that my services are no longer necessary to ensure the continued stable functioning of NCI.

The Neurocam website will be relaunching with a new design very soon. New applications will be reopened at this time.

Except as noted, you are encouraged to publish this communique on your weblog.

Regards,

Crispin Black
Transitional Co-ordinator

UPDATE – Then there’s this.

Bloggage

I’m guest-adminning for Desci at the moment whilst she and her much-discussed boyfriend are out chasing this halfway around the country for a week. In her abscence she’s arranged for a Fitsian smorgasboard of exciting and dynamic guestposters to stimulate her readership daily in the manner to which they’ve become accustomed. You should really check it out.

Operative Cronin (formerly tobyesterhase) gave up blogging for a while, but is happily back, and brings detailed news of the operative meetup in Buffalo, New York back in June.

And the inimitable Nada Awad aka Deadsoybean has quit blogging (and gone all Quilly on our asses), which is, contrastingly, sad. But she has her reasons.

Who The Hell Is Dan Pritchard Anyway?

Enquiring minds want to know.

Look, It’s My Earthly Fortune

All the money I have in the world

Not including 5c coins and the $1.62 in my bank account: eight dollars and thirty cents.

What should I spend it on?

I get paid tomorrow, and I’ve enough food stashed for tonight. I was thinking maybe stuff for breakfast (milk, bread, eggs – that kind of thing) but that’s so mundane, and I crave novelty.

As advised at Chez Rorschach, my position on the Big Brother question: Vesna was robbed, but our maturity and commonsense as a nation will prevail tonight when Tim, quite easily the least obnoxious BB contestant ever, emerges rightly victorious.

(UPDATE – I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: there’s something wrong with the world. I don’t know what it is, but I feel it – like a splinter in the back of my mind, driving me mad..)

Alexis & Althea

Alexis is, happily, back with a new url and is – I believe – in search of a new template, if anyone knows of any good ones.

Stealthy Australian non-operative neuroblogger Althea is also acknowledged.

Could This Innocent-Looking Neurotoddler…

Henley?

… be none other than notorious master of disguise, Robert Henley?

Or this unfortunate character…

Henley?

…encountered suspended from an electricity pole outside this otherwise unexceptional north Melbourne train station?

Henley's train station?

What about this guy?

On 17/7/05, Robin Hely wrote:

When he’s not too busy putting on exhibitions called “Who Is Robin Hely?”, maybe.

And then there’s this. Retrocam goodness! (UPDATE – Or not. Trust me: it was good while it lasted..)

PS I am curious as to who went through my entire archive earlier this evening, looking at pretty much all the comments back to April. Was it you?

Advisory (& Dan Pritchard)

Posts will likely be a bit thin on the ground this week. I am feeling sick and demoralised and – just for a change – I have a stack of email that I really want to clear.

Jo is taking me to Luna Park on Thursday. It’s just down the road from where I live but I’ve never been. We shall eat faerie floss and go on the Faerris Wheel. If it’s open. Which, looking at their site, it isn’t. Unless it’s school holidays right now. Is it school holidays? It isn’t, is it. Damn.

I’ve also been encouraged to attend a certain event on Friday, which should be interesting.. although I probably won’t be able to say much about it.

What else? Dan “Conchis” Pritchard is drawing attention to himself again. Dunno what it’s about, but it seems to have something to do with the return of the legendary Robert Henley and they’re all over it on the Neuroboards.

Here are some nice bonus pics of The Magus burning which somehow got left out last time:

Here Is The Neuronews

Official lines, in case there’s any confusion:

Bridget Fischer, as all operatives were recently advised, has stood aside temporarily due to conflict of interest concerns.

Charles Hastings is currently acting CEO and a very busy man.

Miles Carrefour and Gertrude Zelle have been suspended from duties pending an internal enquiry regarding “recent security breaches”.

The mail supposedly from Miles Carrefour posted recently on the Neuroboards is a “fabrication created by parties seeking to undermine Neurocam International”.

The Neurocam website has gone down because it “has been hacked and is no longer secure. We are currently working on a new encryption system to enable us to get back online as soon as possible. The timeframe on this is unclear at this stage.”

No one is receiving routine assignments. It is not known at this stage when they will start receiving them again. But they will.

The Neurocouncil

Neurocouncil4
Operatives Rorschach and Li (note tragically melted face), and a non-blogging operative

It was a success, I think. A somewhat disappointing seven operatives showed up in person – Cat was there proverbially, and Operative Jojo sent an apologetic text message or two – but these operatives were not in themselves at all disappointing.

One I had never met but knew online. Three I had previously participated in an assignment with. Of these, one had officiated at my book burning, one I knew online, and one was half of the pair of elusive and, of course, mysterious non-bloggers who emerged from their holes – which is always good. One had discovered quite an interesting thing. (dude – email me)

A detailed report will not be made since somewhat inevitably more was said than is entirely suitable for broadcasting.

Neurocouncil5
Operative “no pictures!” Reanimator and another non-blogging operative

Expect a William S. Burroughsesque audio cutup from Operative Reanimator shortly. Along with another interesting project or two.

An attempt at a collective audio blog post was made. It may require some work.

A good time was had by all.

I was a pussy and had to bail early.

Neurocam will be fine.

Everything is fine.

Relax.

Neurocouncil2
Li‘s melted face is admired by a non-blogging operative and American Guy

UPDATE – American Guy & Reanimator have reports which actually cover what we discussed to some extent, if you’re interested in that. A lot of Reanimator’s is made up, though…

2nd UPDATE – Rorschach and Li have also posted reports, Li’s being by far the most accurate.

ATTENTION MELBOURNE OPERATIVES

The Neurocouncil is tomorrow.

6:30pm, Feddish, Federation Square.

Be there.

(Then, after that – no, not directly after – Rorschach, Li, Reanimator and I are going goth clubbing.)

Neurochat

I’ve just been on that IRC channel they’re always banging on about at the Neuroboards.

It was good. Adren and Kybalion were there. I talked to Midnight and Colin, who I have actually met. And I encountered someone else from Melbourne who was not an op, but who had inherited someone else’s Neurocam identifier.

Neurocam, Weblogs

I am not moving Tript‘s link out of the Neurobloggers’ section in silent protest against his sad decision to give up the practice.

And I have added two, both from California: Dev of Neurowiki fame, and hitshermark, who is, weirdly, not actually an operative yet as far as I know.

The Neurocouncil

Prompted by Reanimator, American Guy has proposed a ‘Neurocouncil’ meet in the Melbourne CBD to discuss recent upheavals.

He suggested this Wednesday, but I think we need at least another week to get more interest up.

Neuroboard thread here.
